Part of KM2JE: Mackenzie's View

“Wake up Mackenzie!” screamed my sister, Maddie. I looked at my alarm clock. 5:00am.
“Seriously? It’s 5 am! What’s wrong with you? Go to sleep!” I screamed at my sister.
“Be quiet!” she whispered. “There’s someone outside in our backyard!”
“What? If this is one of your tricks, I’m going  to kill you!”
“I don’t do any tricks on you! You’re the one who does tricks on me to post on your facebook account!”
She had a point. Maddie has never done any tricks on me, only I do them. But someone in our backyard? Probably not. Even if there were any people in our backyard, it would be our parents. But then, they’re asleep. Maybe there was someone out there?
“Fine,” I said. “Who’s out there?”
“Three men, talking about something,” replied Maddie. Definitely not my mom or dad, but maybe my dad’s friends? But why would my dad’s friends be in my backyard?
“Let’s check it out” said Maddie. I quickly obeyed and got out of my bed. I got on my jacket, put my phone in my pocket (to check my Instagram and post stuff about Maddie IF she put a trick on me), and walked tiptoed behind Maddie.

“Is this it?” I asked as Maddie and I crouched down behind the wooden stool and table. True, there were three men outside, both in black suits.
“I can’t hear them.” said Maddie as she move forward. I quickly stopped her.
“No Maddie.” I whispered “They might see us.”  Maddie obeyed and sat down. I moved my hand into my pocket and got out my phone but accidently knocked over a cup of water.
SPLASH. CRACK. BANG
“Mackenzie!”
“What?”’
“Mom’s going to kill us.”
“She isn’t going to be the only one” I said as I point out of the door. The three men was looking our way.
“All because of.. I don’t know, getting your phone to text Sydney?” whispered/screamed Maddie.
“Actually, for your information, I was going to post a picture of you doing a trick on me so people know how mean you are”
“Wow. Now you know what other people feels like.” Maddie replied. I have to say, she did have a point..
“Mads, I think we need to leave now,” I pointed outside. The three men already were looking at our way.
“But then we don’t know what they’re saying!”
“Wait a second,” I said.
“One second passed. Now what”
“Wait…” I had an idea. I put my phone on the recording app and pressed the button.
“You’re a genius!” Maddie said.
“Let’s go.” I gestured upstairs. I was very tired, and I needed some sleep.

BEEEP….. BEEEEP. BEEP. BEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPP
“Maddie stop doing whatever you're doing!!” I screamed at my sister and threw a pillow to her face. Since it was a bunk bed and I was sleeping on the top, it was easy.
“What?” asked m confused sister.
“Nevermind, Mads. It was your alarm clock,” I said. “Now TURN IT OFF!!!!”
Maddie obeyed.

“Just saying, it has been a long time since the last time you called me Mads, Mack.” said Maddie as she got her stuff out and
